Covid Update – Saturday, 26 June

Dear Members,

The NSW Government announced this afternoon that stay at home health orders will apply to all of Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and the Central Coast from 6pm tonight (Saturday) until midnight Friday July 9th.  The specifics as they apply to golf and Avondale are not yet fully confirmed.  However, the club will move to the following operation effective from 6pm tonight.  As further specific guidance becomes available, members will be advised should changes be required.

  • All members from within the area subject to the stay at home orders will be permitted access to the club – i.e. Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and the Central Coast.  There is no specific restriction related to Local Government Areas as was introduced yesterday.
  • No visitors or reciprocal members will be permitted to attend the club until further notice.
  • Check in with a QR code is required immediately on arrival at the club.
  • Golf will continue to be played in groups of up to 4 players.  Competition play will continue as scheduled.  Timesheets will be used for all play, social and competition, on all days.  The timesheet will run up until 4pm each day.  Please do not attend the club unless your name is on the timesheet.
  • Golf access will be restricted to 3 bookings per week for Full 5 members, and 2 bookings per week for all other playing categories.  This includes both social and competition bookings.  The week runs Monday to Sunday, with the first week being Monday 28th June.
  • Access to the practice tee, chipping green and practice putting green is restricted to members who are about to play golf.  Please arrive at the club no more than 30 minutes before your tee time.
  • We will revert to the previous local rules regarding play – rakes will be removed, preferred lies of 1 clublength are permitted in bunkers, no nearer the hole, and the pin cannot be removed.
  • Players will be responsible for marking their own card, and confirming their score with their marker verbally.  Cards will not be swapped.  Members should submit their own card in the clubhouse.  Sanitiser is available at the scanning stations.
  • One player per cart – no sharing of carts other than by members of the same household.
  • Locker room access will be for the use of toilets only.  All sunscreen, toiletries etc will be removed from locker rooms.  Shower access will not be available.
  • Takeaway food and drinks only will be available.  After your round, please leave the club without undue delay.
  • Please note there will be no bridge played at the Club. The clubhouse is only open for takeaway sales.

We would like to thank members yet again for their understanding.  We understand that being able to play golf and enjoy socialising at the club is more important to our members perhaps than ever before.  The Board continues to work to provide access to the club in whatever format is possible, whilst ensuring the health and safety of our members and staff.
