Update from the Captain

An Update from the Captain Regarding Changes to Golf Operations Conditions

In line with the recent easing of restrictions across NSW, the following amendments to our Golf Operations Conditions will take effect from Wednesday, 3 February:

  • Rakes will be returned to bunkers and players will play the ball as it lies
  • Flagsticks may be removed at the player’s discretion
  • Scorecards will be completed by a marker, and signed by both player and marker
  • The flagsticks on the practice putting green will be re-instated
  • Visitors will be able to play on Wednesdays from 9.00am, and every other day of the week from 2.00pm

The current booking system and the use of timesheets will remain unchanged.

The Match Committee will continue to identify further opportunities to return to more normal golf conditions at Avondale.

Course Care and Etiquette
Can I also ask that all players pay particular attention to course care. There has been an increase in poorly repaired pitch marks recently. With such high traffic on the course it is even more important to ensure that we repair our pitch marks.

Can we also please take a special interest in raking the bunkers to a degree that our fellow members deserve. That is, please ensure that on departure from a bunker it is left in excellent condition. Please also ensure that the rakes are returned to their position on the yellow ‘T’ that will be painted on the turf adjacent to the bunker.

No Play Zones
The No Play Zones on the 12th and 13th holes have been removed, effective Saturday, 30 January.

Practice Fairway
Please note the practice fairway will be closed from 2.00pm on Wednesday, 3 February. This is to enable staff to complete a replenishment of the practice ball stock. A significant amount of handpicking is required to locate the old balls. The practice fairway will reopen on Thursday morning.
