COVID-19 Update: 15 January

As the current situation around COVID continues to improve, it has been decided to relax several restrictions regarding activity at Avondale:

From Saturday 16th January, visitors will again be permitted both in the clubhouse and on the golf course. Access to the golf course for visitors will be from 2pm every day. As per the previous arrangement, please contact Hayley in advance at golfops@avondalegolfclub.com.au

From next Friday 22nd January, members will again be permitted to bring a visitor free of charge on Friday afternoon provided you and your guest dine at the club on Friday night. Please email Amanda at function@avondalegolfclub.com.au to make a booking in advance for dinner.

The next club BBQ will be held on Friday 29th January. This date had previously been set aside for the volunteer thank you BBQ, which will not be held this year due to the cancellation of the Avondale Amateur. Instead, we look forward to welcoming members and guests to this first BBQ for 2021. This will be a chef cooked BBQ, due to COVID restrictions. Please either contact Amanda at function@avondalegolfclub.com.au to book your table, or book online under “Functions and Events”.

Unfortunately, the situation regarding bridge remains unchanged – bridge playing is not permitted at the club. We have considered this carefully and consulted with other similar clubs in reaching this decision.

The Temporary Local Rules remain as communicated on January 1st. These include :

  • Rakes have been removed from bunkers and players may take a preferred lie in the bunker, within a club length of the ball’s position, no nearer the hole.
  • Flagsticks are not to be touched and must remain in the hole at all times.
  • Players should collect and mark their own scorecards. Please verbally confirm scores with a marker before submitting the card

All members must continue to check-in using the QR Code in the Service NSW App every time they attend the club. Members should check-in immediately on arrival at the club. Only one check-in is required for each visit to the club. Check out on departure is advised but not compulsory.

All Food and Beverage staff will continue to wear masks whilst at work. Masks are also required to be worn by all members and staff whilst inside the pro shop.

The full details of the NSW Health requirements are provided at https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. These requirements are being updated regularly, and we encourage Members to visit this site. This site provides a full list of locations with an identified COVID risk, together with specific instructions. Members are expected to comply with these instructions.

It is great to be able to welcome back visitors to the club and recommence some function activity for both members and guests. As members will appreciate, we will continue to monitor the situation and make any changes necessary as required.
