In order to make these recommendations, this year the Board has again completed a self-assessment of its Skills and Attributes. The summary of the self-assessment by the Board this year is attached <here>. Based on this analysis, the Board believes we have the required skills to govern Avondale, and, as identified, will complement our skillsets from other sources where appropriate.
The Board is recommending to members a number of changes this year, with a focus being on maintaining the skills needed on the Board whilst supporting a planned approach to Board succession. The recommendations of the Board at the November 2020 AGM will be as follows:
- Keith Allan moves from Director into the role of Treasurer. Warren Hogan is stepping down from the position of Treasurer but will continue as a Director, with a key focus on House and continuing the work already begun to refresh our offerings.
- Jennie Fletcher, who is standing for the position of Lady President at the Ladies’ AGM, will maintain her position as Director on the Board.
- Graeme Houston and Neil Hicks will join the Board as Directors. They both bring some great skillsets to complement the other 7 Directors.
- Ian Skinner is stepping down from the Board after a 6 year term, including 3 years as Club Captain. Kathy Lawson-Brown is also stepping down from the Board as she is concluding her 3 year term as Lady President.

Nominations for the Board at Avondale close at 5pm on Wednesday 14th October, 2020. If other members wish to stand for election, forms are available from the office.
