The Board held its monthly meeting on Wednesday 28 May, 2020.
Here are some key discussion topics from the meeting and other activities this week:
Clubhouse Re-Opening
We are all very excited that we will be in a position to re-open the clubhouse area to members for an initial food & beverage offering from June 1st. With the relaxation of restrictions to allow us to seat 50 people per separate indoor area, our first stage of re-opening will focus on providing a food & beverage service to members playing golf. The House Committee will look to increase this offering to include dining and member and external functions in the coming weeks and months. Tim will be providing the full detail of the first stage of opening in a separate email to all members. As everyone will appreciate, the guidelines around social gatherings require us to take some specific actions to protect the health and safety of members and staff. They may seem a little onerous at times, but are required to ensure we can all enjoy our club safely.
Membership Category Changes – Implementation
Tim and the staff team are beginning the implementation process for the new membership categories approved at the November 2019 AGM. This is a major project, and we will be providing updates to members over the next couple of months as we move forward. The new category structure comes into effect from 1st August, 2020, the start of the new Avondale financial year.
New members
Thanks to the hard work of the membership committee, supported by all our members, we are continuing to receive a number of applications for membership. It is particularly exciting to see a number of new intermediate members joining our club. The new category structure increases the maximum age for intermediate membership from age 29 to age 39, and it is pleasing to see activity in this age group increasing already. I also wanted to reassure all members that the Board continues to regularly discuss congestion on the course, and ensure we are able to accommodate all members playing the amount of golf they would like. As we have all experienced, this has been at a new level over the last couple of months.
