Captain’s Update – 11 April

Thank you to all Members for being supportive and understanding of the terms of play over the last week. I think it’s fair to say that these are unprecedented times.

There has been a huge demand for golf in the last few days. Compounding the congestion has been the closure of the course for maintenance last Monday and Wednesday. I expect that the next week will run more smoothly for all of us.

There has been a great deal of discussion over the use of time sheets and Member restrictions. The Board has decided that, in line with the Constitution, we feel it is currently necessary to facilitate golf with time sheets during this health crisis. We are simply not able to adhere to government restrictions without controlling the flow of Members to and from the course in this way.

As promised, we have monitored the situation and at this time would like to make some small adjustments to the playing conditions.

The following changes will take effect from 6pm Monday April 13:

  1. Seven and Six Day Members will be permitted to book golf twice a week before 2pm and once a week after 2pm
  2. Members in all other playing categories will be permitted to book golf once a week before 2pm and once a week after 2pm, subject to any other limitations that apply to their Membership.
  3. Seven Day Members will have exclusivity on Saturdays.
  4. On Tuesdays and Fridays, the exclusive Ladies times will run to 12:30pm.
  5. On Thursday, the exclusive Men’s times will run to 3pm
  6. Time sheets will open 5 days prior.
  7. The daily wait list will only have 15 places. The wait listed players will no longer automatically replace a cancellation. Once the wait list is full, it will be closed and the Pro Shop will contact wait listed players (in order) to notify them of new availability. This is deemed a necessary change, as we have seen that some Members who have been automatically uploaded to a vacant tee time have not been able to make the adjustments in their day to accept the opportunity. This problem occurred because we had opted to leave the time sheet open during each day of play to enable Members to make changes as required. From Tuesday April 14, the time sheet will be locked at noon the day before. Any changes from that time will need to be made via the Pro Shop.
  8. Members will only be permitted to play if they have a booking in their own name. Please do not give your booking to another person. If you are unable to play, please remove yourself from the time sheet. In the event that you are cancelling after 12pm the day before your round, please contact the Pro Shop to cancel your booking.

Please note, for the weekly restrictions, there is no starting day of the week, it is simply any 7 day period.

The Match Committee will continue to assess the timing of the re-introduction of competitions.

A gentle reminder that you are only permitted to use the practice green and range for 15 minutes prior to your round.

As always, please feel free to make contact if you have any questions.
