Board Update – January

Happy New Year to all Members and staff!

The Board held its first meeting for the year on Wednesday 22 January, 2020.

Here are some key discussion topics from the meeting and updates on other current projects:

Bushfire Response
We have all watched the bushfire situation over summer with great sadness. As Tim noted in last week’s newsletter, the Board has decided that Avondale’s response will be to host a golf day for local brigades of the RFS, possibly together with representatives of other emergency services. We will be working over the next few weeks to begin planning for this event, which will most likely be held April / May. If any member would like to volunteer to be part of the organising Committee, please contact Tim and we would be delighted to have you involved.

Information Nights
The Board is planning 2 information nights during 2020, to be held in March and July. The first night in March will provide a half year financial review, together with updates on other current topics around the club, including developments around water management for the course. We will advise the dates for these nights as soon as possible.

Refrigeration in Bar Area
Members may be aware that we have had some concerns about the noise and heat from the refrigerators in the bar area since their installation during the renovation. The Board has approved modifications to the system to remove the individual condensers from the fridges, and install a single unit outside on the roof with the other air conditioning units. This will make the bar area much more comfortable for our members and staff.

Avondale Amateur
The organising Committee is in the final stages of preparation for the Avondale Amateur next week. We are all very much looking forward to having fun supporting the event in our various volunteering roles – and also to watching some great golf on our course. See you there!
